Don't Tell Me I Can't Do Something

Not sure where I got this idea.

Winnie was raised by her aunt and grandparents on Mt. Blacktail. She dreams to be a mechanic like her late father. But it's looked down upon when women have jobs outside of the household. She doesn't care, though. Everyone already thinks she's strange for hating dresses and skirts. So when she goes to A. Ted Dunne's Repare Warehouse, a massive factory in the middle of the city, for a job, they laugh in her face. When she proves her skills, they give her a job where no woman has ever worked. She, and her best friend Stella (who wants to be a designer) befriend fellow mechanic Elmer and Cyril, a baker's son.
